I was wondering if anyone could tell me just how to go about formating my hardrive on my new powerbook. I was told that doing so and then reinstalling the OS is a good idea. Any help is much appreciated.

Boot from your OS (jaguar?) disc?

Go to disk utilities....

Go to Format/Erase Disc.....

After that just reinstall the System....

Hopefully that answers your question....

Or you could use the software restore CD's, boot from Disk 1, when you are about to restore it gives you an option to erase the HD

That is how it is if the CD boots up on OS 9. I would expect it to be the same if the restore CD boots up from OS X.
