Can i add the name to an app in the dock

The only way I can think of is removing the dock altogether and going with another row of icons. There are plenty of apps that can change the text color for you like desktop visualizer. Although they're might be a launcher that could do that for you as well.

I use nova launcher and it does not have an option to add the names to the dock. You can however change the icon and rename it to whatever you want.
