I have a strange problem with iMessage. Other users can send me iMessages and I can respond to them via iMessage, but I can't start an iMessage conversation myself. It won't turn blue if I want to initiate a conversation, no matter how long I wait.
I trouble-shot the iMessage guidelines. iMessage is on, I can be reached under my number and apple ID (both are verified and ticked), and under "start new conversations from" my number is ticked.
I'm not sure what else to do, and there is no Apple store within 200 miles of me. It's a 3GS with iOS 6.1.3. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
