I'm trying to sell my macbook (4,1)...I don't want to but I need the money :(

Anywho, I'm trying to wipe out the data on the hard drive but I'm afraid this means that all my other installed programmes will be wiped out with it.

I have mac office 2011 and iLife and all that BUT I have no disk. My mac runs mac os x lion.

Is there anyway I can do this without having to purchase all the software as it'll just increase what I have to spend/decrease my price?

And sorry if this seems like a n00by questions. My macbook 4,1 is my first and only mac which I got about a month ago.

When you buy a new Mac it should come with iLife. As for Office, however you installed it is going to be how you re-install it on a new Mac.

The other option is to do a Time Machine backup of your Mac which would allow you to restore your applications on your next Mac during setup.

Okay, so I can do a TimeMachine backup first and then wipe out the data on my hard drive?

Can you tell me how to go about that?
