My plan is to restore passwords on an iMac (15-inch Flat Panel 2003) using an USB 3.0 pen drive (16 GB) because the working recovery DVD I have has a lot of scratches and (therefore or for other reosons) extremely slow (up to 2 hours for opening one menu). I try to achieve that formatting the device with hfs+ and extracting the data of the recovery DVD onto it (recovery DVD is still readable). When I press the option key at startup in order to choose the boot device, the pen drive never shows up. I assume I miss something or my plan is impossible. Any advice?
