I am running iOS 7 GM on my iPhone 5. Whenever my iPhone get to about 20% battery life, it automatically shuts itself off and if I press the home or sleep/wake button the icon comes up that I need to plug my phone into a charger. Now I have never had this problem on iOS 6.1.4, has this ever happened to anyone else?

Could be that the phone/battery just needs to go through a couple of complete cycles before accurate battery levels are shown?

I've had this problem since the betas. Usually around 7%. Was hoping it would be fixed with the GM.

That's not an iOS 7 nor 6 problem. It's a problem with the phone it self. I had my phone replace because of that.

Nope, haven't had this issue so far. I let my iPhone drain to 1% yesterday and it stayed there for like 8 mins straight. Shutting down from 20% seems pretty major if you ask me.

I have seen this issue only on iOS 7. I have been using the beta since b3.

I just posted in the batter thread about something similar. Under 20 percent the battery level jumps like 4-5 percent every few min. Then gets to 1 percent and sits there for 5-8 min then shuts off.

My 1 year old 5 just did this today after changing to 7 last night. Hit 20% and shut down. Any ideas so far? It has to be software related. Never did this before always shut down after 1%

I had this exact issue on my iPhone 4S the first day I had iOS 7. At 20% it shut down. After that I had two full charges and it stabilised so now it goes down to 1% before shutting down. Give it a few days I say

To me it seems to be related to the calibration of the battery itself.
After a couple of charges the o.s. "Reads" the voltage in the right way and recalibrates the percentage according to that.

Same here at around 20% on my 4s. Shuts down, plug it in and instantly at 30% when plugged in. Strange.

Same

Same experience here on iOS 7, and I've also had much the same problem with iOS 6.

If my phone is around 20% plus or minus a few points, it seems anything can trigger a shut down. It's definitely happened more than once when taking a picture.

A friend told me with his previous iphone he was having similar issues, and he thought that meant it was basically the end of the battery's life...

I'm wondering if most people experiencing this are on older phones. I'm using a 4s that I got when they launched... so i guess it's close to 2 yrs old.

still... seems like software should be able to account for real battery life and adjust accordingly.

Lots of iPhone 5 users getting it too, so it can't be end of life.

Mine was dying around 7% for some weird reason. I kept forcing the phone back on with a small charge and eventually got it last until 3%.

Not good.

I noticed it the other day, on 20% and I turned data on to check something and within seconds dropped to 3% and then turned off
