Set up OSX Server mail - proxy gmail to gain push back on iPhone

Ok, drives me nuts that google gmail will not push to my iPhone.

I own a Mac with OSX server. Thought (with a bit of an expense and some clever setup) I might be able to configure MY OSX Server Mail to proxy to my gmail account specifically.

Then set up my iPhone to use my server, to get to gmail AND hopefully push notifications work.

Anyone think that is possible?
