Apple Store orders are moving to shipped status but the tracking number still provides no information.

Good to hear. UPS might be updated as soon as the morning. If not, by tomorrow evening people should get reliable delivery estimates. The phone is launched, so there's no need like last year for Apple to "delay" orders. Day 1 orders might start arriving Tuesday or Wednesday. Remember, Apple's fiscal year ends next Saturday. They have an incentive to get as many retail phones to customers as possible (they can't count them as sales until they do).

Mine still says preparing for shipment, but tracked via UPS and it's being delivered Monday.

The apple store order status is still down. Hopefully when it comes up mine will show as shipped too. Ordered 16GB space gray at 1202/pst.

how are you guys getting the tracking number with it being preparing for shipment?

I haven't been able to track mine yet but in years past I was able to track it by reference number on UPS or Fedex site. You use your order phone number with no dashes.

Same as above... Sept 26 delivery...

Edit: oddly, though, Apple Store shows Sept 26... but UPS shows 24...

what time did you guys that have shipped order?

Mine is still in the "Preparing for Shipment" stage. I placed my order within a minute of the Apple Store app going "live" to place orders at 3:03 AM ET here in Ohio.

Mine currently says...

Preparing for Shipment Available to ship: 1 - 3 business days Delivers: Sep 30 - Oct 2 by Standard Shipping

Until one has their tracking number, all else is irrelevant. Once the package is ready to ship, then and only then can a tracking number be assigned. Not before.

Once the tracking numbers been assigned, the package waits to be picked up, entered into the shippers timeline, and then you'll find its status on the shippers site. There are delays in data entry during this process. Apple and AT&T have their part so refined there's been times I've received my release day iPhone before the tracking number was visible to me.

It's why I always order from AT&T, they've performed flawlessly each & every year. AT&T uses FedEx in my area, I get my phone before 10 AM the morning that people are still in line at my local Apple store.
