Should I go with 16g or 32g??

I have had almost every iPhone and always got the 16g, never the 32g. Currently on my 5 it says I have about 2.8g available. Is the 5s new features going to really suck up that much more space? Should I go with the 32 or stick with 16?

It comes with some Apple apps installed so maybe a bit extra. 32GB costs more though.

Camera is still 8mp so shouldn't take up any more space.

With 2.8 GB left its going to be a tight for to get another 16gb model.

See what apps u are using. See if photos are the main issue.

Apps are getting larger and larger and harder to manage storage space. But photos u can always download to computer for backup.

Photo stream can take a lot of space as well.

So see what the main uses of storage space are. If you can easily get rid of 3-4 more GB than u could get away with 16gb. But if u can't free space and only have 4gb free space than consider the 32gb mode.

16 is okay. No much bigger files from 5s. Don't know about Touch ID space but my 5s seems okay so far, 16gig.

I think if you are always close to filling up the 16, and have to shuffle around apps, music, pictures, etc. Then 32 might be a good option.

So this brings my 2nd question.....I admit I am kind of dumb when it comes to iCloud.

Currently my phone is "backing up" like all of my apps. Shouldn't I really only be backing up my pics, mail, music and stuff like that?

I would go ahead an upgrade to the 32GB model.

If you strictly use your iPhone for "work" (calls, email, calendar, etc.) the 16GB model is honestly fine most of the time.

If you're storing more than a few hundred songs, putting any movies/TV shows on it, or taking photos/videos regularly, it's in your best interest to upgrade to the 32GB. You technically wouldn't even be able to upgrade to iOS 7 with 2.8GB free (requires 3.1GB I believe), so that should show you how tight of a squeeze it is.

Assid from you boasting about what you have, how does what you have and your needs help the original poster?

No, it was more agreeing with the poster that said if it's a work device then 16gb is probably best.

If it's a personal device, then space for videos/photos etc etc.

If I was boasting, I'd have said 64gb and 128gb

I find 16gb perfect for me as I only have certain music on my phone and I don't really use a lot of apps.

I'd vote for 32gb. You are low on space now so unless you plan on removing lots of pictures, apps, music, etc then you will eventually need more space.

32gb. I will never get a 16gb again. I have been kicking myself for over a year.

32GB won't hurt. More space is always better, plus you can always sell it for a 16GB and get cash on your end!

If you keep your music on your phone, then I highly recommend a bigger hard drive. I have 32 GB and my next iPhone will definitely be 64 GB. I filled up the 32 GB immediately and every time I want to buy/download a new song, I have to find another song/app/photo to delete to make room. If you stream all of your music you should be fine with a smaller harddrive.

Depends what you want to do with your phone. I don't need that much on my phone since I have other devices. But if you're one of those people that puts everything on their phone then by all means get the 32gb.

At $200 the 16gig is starting to look over priced with newer Androids starting at 32 gig for the same price. It cost Apple maybe $5 to give you 16 more gig yet they charge $100. No thanks! I'm using my 16gig iPhone 5s as my primary device and my Note 10.1 with 64gig sd card for everything else. And I have a nexus 7 on those days when I want something in between.
Apple needs to retire 16gig especially when iPhone 6 is released. I can only imagine the app size if Apple doubles the screen resolution after increasing the size.
