Hi
Is there anyway of telling what make of hard drive is fitted in your imac ... With all these reports of noisy hard drives especially seagate ones would like check what's in mine ..... Thanks kaka

From the Apple Menu, select "About This Mac" and from that window hit "More Info...". and the next window select "System Report". In the window that next appear select SATA (or SATA/SATAExpress) from the list on the left side. On the upper right will be some information. If the drive model starts with "ST" it's a Seagate. If it's a Western Digital it will start with "WD". If it's something else, post a reply here and someone can tell you the manufacturer.

Some drive noise will be normal and does not indicate an issue with the drive.
