Thunderbird: Focus changes to content when clicking or scrolling through emails

I like to scroll through emails by keyboard.

Click an email once. Focus moves to the content. Click it again. You can now scroll up or down once only. The moment you do, focus again moves to the content.

How do I stop this stupid behavior?
