Hi all,

Just upgraded to Mavericks to see what its like. I usually have menubarfilter running for all versions of OSX that I have used (lion, mountain lion). Unfortunatly it seems not to be working on Mavericks. Does anyone know of a way to get a black menubar again? I really hate the "light" colour of it as standard.

Thanks!

Not sure how well it works as haven't tried it yet, but give this a go

I used to use this and another application later which was much better (Menubear or panda? I forget that name). Don't try it, at least not yet. It can have annoying GUI repercussions. Wait until the dust settles a bit. I have to clean install 10.9 on my Mac Pro for some odd reason(s), maybe I'll test drive a few MenuBar tweaks before doing so and posting a run down. :)

HA Just realized, MenuBarFilter is the app I was referring, I didn't realize until I downloaded it and saw the icon. I also mod my Dock to black; for the life of me I cannot fathom why Apple uses a light dock with light indicator lights. Since 10.8.4, the static Dock "png's" were replaced with a self contained, "responsive" application that broke modding. Someone was able to create a dock mod app, I hope a 10.9 ver is released.

I always used Obsidian Menubar, the best and perfect black menubar, it has 10.9 - Mavericks Support now too.

Can confirm Obsidian working.Looks much better than Nocturn. Doesn't look too good on dual monitors tho, but does turn black when switching screens.

Nocturn did change then dock to black up to DP 7 but not on GM. Being worked on as we speak :)

Is is me or does the text on the menubar look a shade of grey? It's much more of a vibrant white on the nocturne mod.

Yes it is a shade of grey but IMO, although a bit darker, i think it looks a lot clearer than the Nocturn mod.

Saying that i am due an eye test so could be way out :D

Thanks guys! Appreciate the help. Will give obsidian a go. I tried the nocturne theme briefly in ML but caused way too many issues.

Cheers! :D

Just tried obsidian and reverted as it too caused too many issues with text, and dock icons, etc. Its a shame menubarfilter doesnt work at the moment. Really hope it gets updated as there is nothing better than it at getting the dark bar. It basically sets it to invert colours with an overlay (i presume). So no changing files, icons, text all work as does transparency!

I've used Obsidian Menu Bar since ML. It annoys me though that in mavericks the second display is unchanged. Can anyone report whether or not Nocturne does this?

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. I was referring to the same thing you noticed in your post 4 hours ago. Do you mean it's been updated since then?

Ahhh. My apologies. You mean both being black at the same time.

Unfortunately not. But the menu bar does change to black when you click on the second screen.

I don't think that both being black at the same time would be possible as theoretically both menu bars would have to be active at the same time and Mavericks doesn't work that way. Maybe someone will come up with a mod to do it but i wouldn't hold your breath.

I hope so. I don't mind on a laptop since I rarely use a second display, but on my desktop I have a dual head setup so this would really annoy me. I'm thinking the inactive menu bar is probably drawn by the graphics card just like the dock is.
