you should just need the UB patch, just make sure to apply it correctly. I'd be curious to find out whether this solves the issue for other people or not
The instructions say to locate your halo app. Mine is in the dock so I found the file it was referencing by right-clicking. Once found I selected the file, right clicked it, chose "show package contents" and found a directory within it titled "MacOS." i opened that folder and found a single file named "Halo." I renamed it to HaloUB as instructed then copied the files from the patch (‘Halo’ and ‘mavericks_patch.dylib’) to the same directory that contains the newly renamed file, "HaloUB."
i then closed the window, launched halo, went into a network game and it was still slow.
The info about this patch suggests that it is meant to fix a bug that kept the file from launching however this was never my problem. It launched fine but its just MASSIVELY slower now with Mavericks.
Sounds like you had the same problem. Being that you have the same system, I wonder why it doesn't work in mine. Frustrating beyond belief as this is the only game I play. I've become incredibly good after playing 3+ hrs every day since 2003.... and to just stop is a jolt to my system.
Thanks for the feedback provided thus far. If you (or anyone) can help me further it would be greatly appreciated.

My iMac is the same exact model and specs as yours. I was able to reproduce the "slowness/laggyness", but it went away after I had applied the patch.
Edit: you should just need the UB patch, just make sure to apply it correctly. I'd be curious to find out whether this solves the issue for other people or not
Disregard my last post. I just re-attempted to follow the steps and saw that I had put the files in the root directory rather than in the directory that is the app. After doing so, it worked like a charm!!!!
I'm sooooo happy. Thank you so much!!!
