It has to be built in to the hardware.

only 3rd party, if they release one and it would use the lighting cable port and a case.

The only possible advantage I can see with wireless charging is that it provides another method to change your phone while using the lightning port for headphones or earbuds in lieu of the gone but never forgotten headphone jack. However, knowing Apple, the wireless charging device will not be cheap.
