os 9 - os x network printing

I'm running a mixed network. The epson stylus photo 1290 is connected to a mac running os 9 and is setup for shared printing
works fine on all macs running os 9 in the network.
my os x machine however can't see the printer no matter what i try

why?? how??
 
apparantly i need to connect directly to the printer using it's ip address
but where do i get that?
