I just got my new Haswell rMBP 15. I also have late 2012 MBP 17(work). I noticed that my new rMBP screen brightness is a little low. To get the same brightness as my MBP 17, I would set two clicks(dot) higher on rMBP then on my 17. Is that the way it is?

The brightness of my new 15" is about halfway between clicks 15 and 16 (highest) on my 2010 17". Considering there's certainly been some brightness degradation in 3.5 years, I'd say your results are probably about right.

Basically, the higher pixel density displays will block more of the light produced by the LCD backlight. This is one of the reasons IGZO screens are highly anticipated.

If it blocks more of the light, then wouldnt that make the screen dimmer?
