My boyfriend recently got an iPhone 5s. He's taken immaculate care of it, never carries it with keys in his pocket and has never dropped it. However, suddenly a mark appeared on the screen. He thought it was a chip. However upon closer inspection, I realized whatever damage this was, was in fact under the screen. Image:

It's hard to describe, but it's a white mark with uneven sides. One side's edge is translucent, the rest of it is opaque. It may be dust, but it's hard to tell.

Does anyone know what this is or if Apple/the carrier would replace the phone free of charge? He is with Telus in Canada.

Thanks!
