Hi apple fans.

Here, two days ago an iphone 5s gold 16GB was picked up in the local store. Phone itself is a masterpiece, however it was noticed that the volume output is substantially lower than in iphone 4s. It was tested with the following headphones: Creative aurvana live, Steelseries siberia v2, sennheiser ep630 and in the car through aux input whereas iphone 4s was very loud at 13 knob setting and with iphone 5s knob has to be pushed to 20 to give comparable sound volume. Basically when the volume is on maximum setting the music loudness is unacceptable (too quiet). Iphone 4s performed way better. The issue was reported to apple and the only advice was to replace the phone. All settings in the "music" menu are set to default (sound check, volume limit, eq are set on off). Will pick up the new phone in sunday and see how its getting on. Hopefully the problem will be resolved by the replacement, nevertheless a big thumb down for apple !

I would think it's unlikely that your device is faulty. Try on an Apple Store exhibit unit and see what's the response maybe?
