New iPhone With Dead Battery

Hello , i've bought a new iphone 5 and it was delivered a few hours ago ive opened everything and swtiched on the phone and it didnt switched on so i put it to charge and its charging , is it normal ? i thought that phones usually come with half battery , atleast thats how it was with my 4s...
please help.

I wouldn't say normal, but it definitely can happen and has happened. Shouldn't be an issue.
