I bought my first rMBP a week ago.

I was able to upload PEF files from my Pentax K5, but am not able to upload them from my K5IIs.

When I try and load them, it comes back saying that they are an unreadable file, so they won't be loaded. Or something like that.

At the moment, I only have iPhoto - I haven't loaded the Pentax software, Elements or ACDSee. On my Windows laptop, I usually uploaded via ACDSee and had no problem at all.

Is there a way to upload the files outside of iPhoto, if I don't have another photo software to choose from? I've changed the settings so that iPhoto isn't the default, but I also don't know how to redirect to a different folder.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I would suggest changing the RAW capture format on your camera from PEF to DNG, Pentax cameras have had this nice feature for some time now.

Thank you very much for all the suggestions. I'll try them out this weekend.
