For some reason my on 5S, when my 5S is on halfway brightness, my old 5 on half way brightness, the 5 is way brighter! My 5S on 75% brightness is the same as my 5 on 50% brightness…

would this be considered a defect? Both on iOS 7, etc.

I feel it is the opposite on my phone.

I am always turning it down.
I have mine between 20-25% and it still feels too bright.

(iPhone 5S that is)

My 3G is way brighter than either my 4S or 5S.....

4S and 5S are about the same, my only complaint of the 5S. I was really hoping for a brighter 5S.....

Dang...maybe I got lucky after reading the posts here.

I even have the Auto Brightness on and in a dark room that thing lights up the room.

Is it perfectly visible in direct sunlight? If yes then why does it matter.

Same here. The first thing I noticed about my 5S was how bright the screen was, even at 50%. Add to that, the auto-brightness not seeming to work, I reduced the screen brightness down to around 10% and let the auto-brightness adjust the brightness up when i'm using it in the daylight. Not sure if the device is faulty or the OS is buggy because it doesn't reduce the brightness when auto-adjusting, but does increase when in a brighter room.

Yeah, I thought the Auto Brightness worked for a bit but now it doesn't adjust as I thought it did/should.
