I have had exactly the same issue...
On old Macs you need to change the 'clock battery' that is inside. - it keeps the Mac up to date (and time) even when it's switched off.
Remember, back on those days, they were not connected to WIFI, to be able to adjust the date & time as soon you turn on your Mac, so they needed an internal small watch type battery to keep working!

P.S. that folder may have been created/edited when the 'clock battery' went flat last time. (before someone replaced it, perhaps previous Mac owner?) - just delete the folder.
