Downloading file progress bar stays on desktop icon

I have a problem since updating to Mavericks, whenever I download a file, even when it completes, the thumbnail doesn't show. The download progress icon remains. I have gone as far as deleting the finder plist, with no success.

I get this occasionally. It's just the icon not updating. Click on the icon and do CMD I (or right click and choose get info) this updates the icon.

I had this issue in the developer previews. A pram reset folioed by a Smc reset fixed it for me and it hasn't come back since.
