As much as people think they're good gifts, truth is cash is 10x better! They're greedy money grabs by credit companies and banks. You're either paying a $7 fee on a $50 card to ensure there's no future fees or paying ~ $3 with tacked-on monthly fees. Case in point: I just found a "Vanilla" (one of the scammiest variants) Visa gift card in my couch. Cool, a $100 card I bought myself 2.5 years ago! Wow, I only spent $40 of it so that must mean there's $60 left... nope, a $2 monthly fee ate up the rest.
Not to mention, they're just annoying to manage. I don't complain if I receive more than one but eventually you forget which has what left on it and it's just a hassle compared to cash.
