iPad mini Mini with Retna Display?

My friends mom is selling me her mini. She said it is the retna display but she doesnt have the box. How do I make sure it is the retna display model? Thanks!

If you type in the serial number here it might tell you.

Serial number is on the back and in Setting -> General -> About.

The Retina mini's have your choice of color which now extends to the back of the R mini. The back of my new Retina mini is space grey.

The originals have the typical aluminum back, no choice of color.

You can get the 1st gen mini with space grey now though as well.

Are you sure? I thought the original minis came in black and slate, like the iPhone 5.
