Hi Mr. Bunny, glad to meet you! And thanks for the info if I can trust you speak from a position of authority. It might be good to throw a vendor tag on your account.
This is where I have been over the last few years... after leaving WoW after 2 years of play, I've drifted around from MMO beta to beta. Most of them have not been able to hold my interest. Lately Star Wars:TOR and Guild Wars 2 faded for me for a variety of reasons. Currently I am playing Final Fantasy XIV:ARR, but it too is starting to fade. It is a beautiful game and the main quest is excellent. I think that the idea of one toon being able to equip multiple classes is a great idea, but in the case of SE, they did not bother to put in enough quests to support multiple classes, and their FATE (group parties) are mostly a mindless, non-challenging, boring, way to gain XP. It might be an exaggerated feeling, but WoW dungeons used to knock me out with their design and beauty. In contrast FFXIV dungeons are bor-ing, but this is not a plea for high difficulty. I'm casual so some, but not too much challenge is important to me.
Among the stand alone RPGs, I think Elder Scrolls Oblivion is one of the best games I've ever played, stuck with it for all most 2 years. Skyrim too was excellent, so much so that I wrote an
Adventures In Skyrim blog to record my adventures and perceptions.
Skyrim dungeons are far more pleasing to the eye than FFXIV:ARR.
So I'm looking forward to giving EO a shot. The real issue for myself is the been-there-done-that feeling. Every MMO I've played lately are really the same thing- kill and collect, gather while killing, escort. New sights can push the BTDT away for a while, but not for too long. So the key seems to be innovation, something new to do in a new way.
I'm also gearing up to jump into EQ:Landmark and see how building feels, individual and group building. I kind of love Minecraft after being turned on to it by my Grandson so Landmark grabbed my attention. It seems like something new, destructible environments and changes that just don't revert back to a default state and advanced building tools, something other than block by block. Anyway, who knows how it will turn out.
Right now I'm looking forward to both experiences... and I play World of Tanks in my spare time too.
