I'm thinking of buying a Mac Mini and two Dell U2414H displays. Will the Mac Mini be able to drive those two displays? Will it "just work" if I connect the one display to the Mac Mini (mini DisplayPort->Thunderbolt), then hook the second one up to the first one via DisplayPort?

I have two U2414m's, and I'm having to connect one via Thunderbolt->displayport, and the other via HDMI->DVI.

The H version seems to have a lot more inputs, and it looks like it might do display port daisy chaining, but you can fall back onto HDMI and mini-displayport if it doesn't work.

No, won't work.

I don't think the current version of the Mini can support "pass through" of the Displayport from one display to another.

You -can- hook up two Dell 24" displays to the Mini, BUT
- 1st one has to go through Displayport
- 2nd one has to go through HDMI.

Note:
It's -possible- that a new revision of the Mini -may- support Displayport pass-through. But that remains to be seen, if and when the new Mini appears...

Thanks for the helpful answers so far. Is there any difference to running the monitor via DisplayLink or HDMI?

Shouldn't be, one display will be hooked up via HDMI and the other will be DisplayPort/Thunderbolt to HDMI.

Is HDMI reducing the refresh rate to 30 Hz or am I wrong ?

Shouldn't be, mine is at 60hz per the Display settings.
