Late 2013 27 iMac:
- Core i7
- 16GB RAM Factory
- 512GB PCIe SSD
- 780m GPU

I just received my first kernel panic on this new iMac. Believe it or not, it just came shortly after adding my LaCie USB3 2Big external to the arsenal. Here is the diagnostic report. Please let me know what you think.

If you get a screen that looks like this:
TS3742_01_KP-001-en.jpg
It's called a kernel panic. If it doesn't happen again, or very infrequently, you don't need to worry about it.
In most cases, kernel panics are not caused by an issue with your Mac. They are most likely caused by an issue external to your Mac. If the kernel panic doesn't happen again within a few weeks, you don't need to troubleshoot further.
If it does happen again, this may help:

I'm fully aware of what a Kernel Panic is. Did you even read my log I posted? I'm just wondering if there's anything in that log that would associate with an external device.

I just received my first kernel panic on this new iMac. Believe it or not, it just came shortly after adding my LaCie USB3 2Big external to the arsenal. Here is the diagnostic report. Please let me know what you think.

Kernel Extensions in backtrace:

It's a bit of guesswork, but it looks like LaCie drivers are to blame. Someone unloaded an Apple driver, loaded a LaCie driver, and then it crashed.

In general, I avoid any drives that are made specifically for Apple, like Western Digital and LaCie, exactly because they add their own drivers, and tend to run into trouble. Any generic drive will only use Apple drivers, so you are a lot less likely into trouble. It's just my opinion, but if at all possible I'd try to return the drive and get Seagate, Samsung, Toshiba, anything that you can connect to any computer. Probably saves you money as well.

Yes, I read your post. I don't make assumptions about people's knowledge level, and my post relates to anyone with a kernel panic. As stated by Apple, if it doesn't happen again, no further troubleshooting is necessary. If it does, the links I provided should help with troubleshooting.

I'm with gnasher729 on this one. That "last loaded kext" is almost always the culprit on these kernel panics. Uninstall any Lacie software you installed and you should be fine.

Ordinarily the software that comes with these aftermarket drives is not needed and the best thing to do is just format the entire disk to get rid of that stuff as soon as you attach the drive.

This is already my second device in two weeks. The first one had an extremely loose I/O board. This second unit seemed okay until I had a kernel panic in less than 24 hours. I've been using CalDigit devices and have nothing but good things to say about that company and the quality of each unit. The problem is the CalDigit VR2 (comparable to the 2Big) is $150 more for the exact same thing. I may understand why now.

Still on the fence about returning it again, but it may just be my best bet.

I apologize if I came off rude. I'm just a bit frustrated. If it's driver related to my LaCie, then isn't it possible it'll happen again?

As said, that USB driver is from 2012.

Should these be updated? If so, then how?

I only installed the software because I wanted email alerts as to the status of each drive.

I'm just returning the product. I am going with CalDigit who has been reliable. Should've went with what I knew. I gave LaCie two chances...
