Recently, I have found that when waking my MacBook from sleep, my password screen has red blotches all over it, notably in the darker areas. Here's a photo :

What could this be? Graphics card? It goes after a few seconds. I'm quite worried, as I am over my warranty (Though I do have a John Lewis 3 year guarantee.) Problem is, it's the 2012 non retina 15 inch base model, which I know is not made anymore.
Any help would be most appreciated.
