Rank the USA Presidents of your lifetime.

From best to worst, how would you rank the Presidents of your lifetime.

This includes the Presidents from when you were a baby and small child, or if you reside outside the USA, based upon your historical understanding.

There is no right or wrong answer (in theory), merely how you perceive the effectiveness, leadership and achievements of the Presidents.

For myself:

1-Ronald Reagan
2-Richard Nixon
3-Bill Clinton
4-George H. W. Bush
5-George W. Bush
6-Barack Obama
7-Gerald Ford
8-Jimmy Carter

I'm much younger than you it seems:

1. Bill Clinton
2. Barrack Obama
3. Ronald Reagan
4. George H. W. Bush
5. Geroge H. Bush

I ranked the GOP Presidents last mostly because I am against their eonomic policies. I'm a keynesian.

If you are old enough to have Nixon on your list you are missing 3 Presidents

Our lists look real similar. Though you forget Obama...which is understandable

It's really too early to rank Obama with anyone, but from what he's done so far he is definitely better than both Bushes.

So who do you think won the election in 2008 or 2012? And why don't you recognize him?

1-Bill Clinton (I value his compassion for people, at least perceived)
2-Ronald Reagan (We really needed a hard a$$ at the time of his presidency)
3-Barack Obama (Love him or hate him, he has vision and I didn't vote for him)
4-George W. Bush (After his speech on the rubble pile it was kinda downhill)
5-George H. W. Bush (nothing to add, 1 termer)
6-Jimmy Carter (looking back it was a weak time for America)

I normally vote republican, but maturing is having the ability to look back and value the best man at the time.

Interesting ranking. Though, I'm curious as to why Nixon gets placed so low. Not looking to make a counterpoint, just curious.

Not many would put Carter right under Ike, or above Kennedy. That's really interesting.

Alternatively, I'd put Nixon at #8 for causing the most damage to the institution of the Presidency by any president in at least the last century. Prior to Nixon there was a certain degree of generalized respect for the office. Ford and Carter didn't do anything to reverse the damage Nixon had done (probably the opposite). I think that's why Reagan is generally over-rated: he followed a criminal, a nobody, and an incompetent. On the other hand, Reagan was a terrible president (from my and many other people's point of view) in terms of his beliefs, policies, and actions.

It was because of Watergate and the enemy lists (I think Obama supporters are doing the same) of course. I found all that episode a big black mark onto his Presidency!

Why? Let me guess, because he was born in Kenya?

Your right, I forgot about that. Even the Dems, give him credit for that much later.

Carter was the most principled and visionary president that I've seen. He tied foreign relations to human rights records, he foresaw the importance of the nation's changing energy needs. If I were to choose any one person from my list to lead America today, it would be Jimmy Carter.

I'm just surprised that there are still people who think there was some mass conspiracy to put a birth notification for a black child born in Kenya in a Hawaii newspaper back in the 1960's in the hopes that he would be the first black president some day and then going on to forge birth certificates, and find an American citizen to pretend to be his mother so that even if he was born outside the country the conspirators could claim he was a US citizen from birth anyway...

I'm also assuming you were one of the people calling for Romney and every white candidate to show their birth certificates as well? And that you would have had a problem with McCain getting elected since he was born in the Panama Canal Zone?
