In all of the years I've used OSX, I have never used "Services", that is in the drop down menu for any application.

Could someone who uses services share what you use them for?

Thanks.

I've been using OSX since the public beta of version 1 and I cannot recall ever using one directly myself.

Services are primarily useful if you are using your Mac for writing as most services work with text.

Some apps (Circus Ponies Notebook comes first to mind) offer clipping services that will suck selected text into the app using a service. I also use the service that creates Sticky Notes. And there are the services you may not think of as services, such as the dictionary lookup and Google search. There are also a bunch of free services available from Devon Technologies (see http://www.devontechnologies.com/products/freeware.html) and you can also easily make your own using Automator.
