Phil Everly Has Died

USA Today is reporting that Phil Everly of 1960's rock duo The Everly Brothers has died at age 74. A sad day as I really enjoyed their music.
As did I. Their music brings back lots of good memories.

All us oldies are saddened. Those songs got me through high school.
What shocked me was that Phil would have been only 4 years older than I was. Somehow I didn't realize how young they were when they had all those hits.

I read about Phil Everly's death this morning.
The Everly Brothers contribution to the rock of the 50's and 60's was profound.
It was a great era in music, and they added significantly to that era.

A sad loss. Don & Phil's harmonies were impeccable. They did some of their best work after their 80's reunion.
'Born Yesterday' and 'EB84' are arguably their best albums.
Their early work was reportedly an inspiration to Lennon/McCartney.

Nash said it best: When the Everly Brothers sang together, there was something in their voice that made two voices into one voice that created a sound that I don't think is possible with unrelated singers.
I tend to agree. The closest you could get to them that were family would probably be the Nelsons (Matthew/Gunnar), but not even the Jacksons or Isleys could compare, as far as singing families go.
