iPhone 5s and car bluetooth

I have a vehicle with built-in bluetooth and also usb cable. I would like to use old iPod plugged into usb for music, and iPhone connected via bluetooth for calls and NO music. Is this possible?

I do this all the time in my car. I keep my 160 Classic connected to the iPod connector and the phone connected through Bluetooth. When someone calls, the music is paused and the call goes through the speakers. Hang up and the music continues.
