'Intel Inside' no more.

Looks like Intel is scrapping not only their logo, but their tagline as well. Great news for Apple fans, not wanting to see that little sticker on their shiny aluminum powerbook. Get ready for an even better little sticker!

I hated the fact that stickers seemed to be compulsory on intel machines, but I didn't mind the old logo too much. where can I find this new? took a quick look at that site but couldn't find much. that italian site didn't have the image.

besides who needs a sticker when a powerful laptop alone acts as the intel badge

I guess this was the idea:
http://www.channelregister.co.uk/200...tel_new_logos/

But it sounds like they are DOA now.

More of the same here:

It's not quiiiiiiiite over Just this week Intel registered a pile of new Core Inside, Xeon Inside etc. trademarks. So it looks like we're stuck with the "inside" outside.

The sticker was just there because PC makers got a price break for putting it there. There's no reason to believe that Apple would have used them, anyway, given Apple's obsession with clean design.

Apple won't allow stickers on their computers, though maybe on the boxes.

I could maybe see a logo or something on the box but I also agree that there is no way Jobs will let an Intel sticker on any mac product.

Absolutely... when I see the Windows PCs that have the intel stickers it just reminds me of a car filled with bumper stickers ... now why would anyone want a bumper sticker on there brand new BMW? (or to avoid debate, replace your favorite car manufactorer with BMW)

I agree. No stickers.

They'll probably be imprinted on the side of the Mac itself. I figure they'll replace the glowing Apple on the Powerbook with a Intel logo instead.

Actually, I don't believe I'll see an Intel logo on a Mac product OR a box.

And since Apple will only be using Intel x86 chips, and not AMD, I don't think it's even necessary to put Intel stickers on Intel Mac laptops.

as long as the sticker can be removed (and no sign on tampering would stay) let them stick a sticker on the macs.

one poster said, companies get a price break by putting those fugly stickers. well, if i get a to pay a few dollars lesser, why not (again as long as i can remove the stickers myself).

if those logos are correct, it is a shame that the lowered "e" is gone. just remove the word "inside". the lowered "e" is like a trademark...

My greatest fear: A combination Apple/Intel designed logo. But I agree with the majority here: No stickers on Apple products.

Hooray, no dinky stickers!

Although I must admit, Intel Inside was a pretty good marketing idea, and it did last awhile. I wonder what will replace it?

Intel Imbedded?

These are the official replacements Intel have filed so far.

I wouldnt mind Apple having the stickers just so that they price and come down slightly or whatever Intel gives for having a sticker. On the chip itself, or inside the computer or on the foot or underside seems like a good place.

Stickers would be very lame on an Apple machine.

This reminds me of the people who leave spec stickers on their gadgets. Funny...

Considering Mac boxes currently sport PowerPC logos (at least last time I bought a new Mac), I'm quite sure the boxes will sport some kind of Intel/Intel product logo.

Does it matter? For my part, I'll just remove the sticker.

Correct me if I'm wrong -- and I'm sure someone will -- but I don't understand the "Intel Inside" bashing. Motorola couldn't produce the chips Apple needed. IBM couldn't produce the chips Apple needed.

Intel seems to be doing a pretty good job of doing what it says it's going to do -- hence the shift Apple announced this year.

All I care about is having a computer that can run the Mac OS as efficiently as possible. So what if I have to spend a few seconds peeling off sticker. Beats waiting years and years for IBM to produce a 3 GHz + chip. Seems like a reasonable trade-off, doesn't it?

I don't think the bashing here is about using Intel processors (I think that's already been dealt with here), but about the fugly stickers that may or may not be on the computers.

I personally think that *any* sticker has its place in the design of a $1,000+ computer...

what annoyed me most about the intel inside campaign was how childish the logo looked...

I wouldn't mind a logo that combined Apple's and intels logo together... someone had done a mockup of one, with the apple and the intel logo as the stem.
