I'm trying to determine if this is a result of me not having a setting right or if this is how they designed it.

I've added three accounts to Mail. Currently, this is how they show up in Mail (left pane, where Account 1, 2, etc., are email addresses indicating the accts):

Inbox
- Account 1
- Account 2 (a Google Apps account)
- Folder 1
- Folder 2
- Folder 3, and so on...
- Account 3

Drafts
- Account 1
- Account 2
- Account 3

Sent
- Account 1
- Account 2
- Account 3

Junk
- Account 1
- Account 2
- Account 3

etc.

BUT, what I'd like (and how it makes sense to me) is:

Account 1
- Inbox
- Folder 1
- Folder 2, so on...
- Sent
- Junk
- Trash, etc

Account 2
- Inbox
- Folder 1
- Folder 2, so on...
- Sent
- Junk
- Trash, etc

Account 3
- Inbox
- Folder 1
- Folder 2, so on...
- Sent
- Junk
- Trash, etc

My question:
Is this possible?? The default format (or how it laid them out when I added he accounts) is quite frustrating. I don't need a combined Inbox, etc. - that simply leads to confusion. I've been looking through settings to try to locate this but am coming up empty so any guidance anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

OK, let me post a follow up. Is this the correct behavior?? Instead of by account it is designed to be by folder??

Which version of OS X are you using?

What I've seen in 10.8.5 and earlier is:
  • Inboxes for all acocunts
  • Drafts for all accounts
  • Sent for all accounts
  • Account 1 and the rest of its folders.
  • Account 2 and the rest of its folders.
  • Account 3 and the rest of its folders.

I have not designated any folders as Trash or Junk folders since I don't have Mail move deleted mails to the Trash nor do I have it move Junk to a junk folder.

Mavericks. Sorry to leave that out. And yes, I think it is showing up like you described. Being more accustomed to W7 than OSX this is opposite of what it should be and illogical, but that's just my opinion on it. I guess to some it makes sense...
