Hi guys, I've got a wifi/ethernet service that requires you to go through a login screen first before you use it. I've attempted internet sharing with my Macbook Pro but I am just met by errors.

Surely the AppleTV can handle a login screen?

Student accommodation. I control what mac addresses are allowed etc. though

My old college had that, it was a real pain, but us enterprising engineering students figured out a way around it. That type of system is almost universally employed by controlling the DNS servers and by redirecting everything to an internal page before you log in. If you use your MacBook to look up the right DNS servers, you should be able to set the ATV to those manually I think. That should bypass the login screen as long as those DNS servers are active. I am not in front of my ATV right now so I am not sure you can set the DNS manually with an autoconfigured IP address though. We always used OpenDNS servers at school to get around this, try those!

Good luck,
Matt
