iPhoto changing screens

I'm having an issue where iPhoto keeps moving to a different display on me. I'll open iPhoto on my main display, click to bring focus to an application on display 2, then if I click back on iPhoto on my main display it animatedly switches over to display 2.

I first noticed this when I updated to 10.9 Mavericks and it still exists on 10.9.1. iPhoto is version 9.5.1.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I've searched everywhere and cannot find anyone else with this issue. It is incredibly frustrating trying to use iPhoto with any other open applications.

Yes! It's making me mental. iPhoto keeps jumping from my 30" Cinema display to the crappy 17" 1024x768 Samsung secondary monitor. It jumps over, scales down and I have to keep moving it back. All I have to do is click on it and it jumps over. I have no idea how to fix this.
 
I just removed the old 17" Samsung VGA monitor from my system and replaced it with a 1600x1200 Samsung DVI monitor. At the moment, my iPhoto has stopped jumping from screen to screen. Maybe it's a VGA issue or maybe it has something to do with the resolution? Maybe it's just a fouled up display preference and adding a new monitor eliminated that issue. I'm not sure but right now it's stopped doing it.
 
Hmmm I'm not sure. My main monitor is my 27" iMac and I've got both my additional 24" Samsung monitors connected to the iMac through DVI cables and DVI-to-Thunderbolt adapters.
 
Yep, it's happening to me and also driving me nuts too.

I filed a bug at http://www.apple.com/feedback/ and recommend everyone else who is experiencing this to do the same, then there is a chance it might get fixed.

Seems like a clue to the problem might be when the 2 screens are different resolution and/or orientation. When I first got my new rMBP with Mavericks, I had 2 external 30" panels connected @ 2560x1600, and I did not experience this problem when using iPhoto.

Then one of my panels died, and I replaced it with an older Samsung SyncMaster @ 1600x1200, rotated 90 degrees to portrait orientation. With this configuration the iPhoto screen-changing problem is happening regularly.
 
I don't have any monitors in portrait, but they are all different resolutions... That may be the pattern...
 
For what it's worth, I am back to dual 30" screens. And the problem has gone away. So looks like the problem might indeed be exposed when you are using displays with different resolutions.
 
Sure is annoying.

I have the same problem. I have a 17" MBP @ 1920x1200 using a HP 2009m @ 1600 x 900. OS 10.9.2 and iPhoto 9.5.1.

I have a finder window open with the folder I am exporting to on the HP and every time I click over to it and verify the export iPhoto jumps over there. Really annoying.

Happens to me, too. Daily.

Other issue is that the colors on pictures look washed when I have iPhoto on the MBA display. I can't understand why iPhoto hasn't been re-designed with better fullscreen functionality. It'd be nice to keep the sidebar and not get switched out of fullscreen automatically when importing.
 
I have the same problem. It still exists in Yosemite Beta 10.10. I am also using two monitors of different resolutions (iMac 27 inch 2560 x 1440 and Apple Cinema HD Display 23-inch (1920 x 1200). I submitted the issue to Apple Feedback.

Me, too. I normally have iPhoto on my 27" 2009 iMac (running Mavericks), but if I click anywhere that does not have an action associated (e.g. between photos, or in the blank area of the information bar) it jumps to my secondary monitor (Dell 1600 * 1200, connected via Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter).
 
Same here

I am using a Mac mini (2012) with Mavericks. I have a Dell Ultrasharp U2711 (27″, 2560×1440) and a 11 year old Eizo monitor attached (19″, 1280×768). This bug is driving me nuts ...
