Apple today introduced a public beta of X11 for Mac OS X, which allows X11-based applications to run side-by-side with native Mac OS X applications on the same desktop and makes it even simpler to port X11-based applications to the Mac. The free public beta of X11 for Mac OS X requires Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and is available now from Apple's Web site. The final version is expected sometime later this year.
