I just saved a numbers doc and the program crashed. Now when I try to open the document I get "Can't be Opened". I've checked permissions and I'm listed read/write, and restarted the mac but it still won't open.

Help!? Thanks!

One can only assume that the file wasn't saved correctly when the app died, and the file is therefore useless.

You can try and use Time Machine to get an older version back.

Does that often happen? I didn't realize Numbers was that unstable. Unfortunately I just got this mac and haven't set up a backup yet.
Hours of work down the drain :( Thanks for the reply.

I don't think it's common. "I just got this Mac" isn't very informative. Is it used? What year was it made? What version of the OS is installed? What version of Numbers do you have. Brevity is your enemy when posting on a forum. But being too verbose can be bad as well. You need to at least give some basic information, not just ask a question.

I have this problem occasionally, and the only remedy I've found to work is a restart.
