No Live Streaming MWSF Keynote Stream?

http://www.macrumors.com/images/macrumorsthreadlogo.gif

Apple has not offered a live streaming feed for their Macworld Keynote addresses for a number of years. One reader forwarded an email from Apple's Investor Relations who indicated that Apple would again not be providing a live feed for Macworld.

Quote:
Thank you for your email. A replay will be available on http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mac.html, but there are no plans for live streaming.
Macworld San Francisco kicks off next week. Steve Jobs is scheduled to provide the keynote address at 9 AM Pacific on January 10th, 2006.

MacRumors, of course, will provide live coverage if at all possible.

Can't wait, Should be a interesting event. Bring on the mac mini media box, the 13" iBook, and the shuffle with playlist toggling. We should have a secret page that is the same as the live feed, but for the hard core members. It always bugs me when the bears come out of their caves every January for MWSF Live feed.

Hopefully we can put those to good use this time around.

Let see how far we can slow down the server with the amount of traffic.

Everybody remember to constantly refresh their browsers every 2 seconds during the live feed.

I was just about to type that I'll be in Florida on vacation for the Keynote this year, sitting out by the pool with my laptop and credit card in hand ready for any and all new products apple will be announcing.

Ugh. Lucky. Well, good for you. Yay!
If I have a 30 minute slot 1 hour 45 minutes after the keynote starts what would be suggested to do? Read about it on-line? Read about it than watch a bit (would it be available then?)?

Yep. Same here.
Except for one 30min. slot when my French teacher is letting me and another Mac geek use her new iMac G5. Yep, that would be lunch.
I think it's fair to say I will be very distracted at class that day.

Sounds like a good system from the looks of it. MWSF looks to be a good stress test for it. Here's to hoping the servers don't melt under the load.

ooooOOOOoooo... pretty!

I... kinda... think I can wait a few hours - up to 24! I've been bought up in England, we're used to waiting 6 months for American TV.... even now, when I download everything I normally get stuff a day late...

It doesn't matter to me, I'll be in school at the time of the keynote.
Hopefully the website will be updated by Lunch time.

I just hope Apple will put the video up after the keynote, last special event (Powermacs & Powerbooks & Aperture), they didn't have anything.

I have a feeling that part of the reason for not having live streams, is to give Media incentive to actually attend the event, as opposed to saving LOTS of money by not having to ship their editors to the event just to cover the keynote. NAIAS has done similar with the Detroit Auto Show, and it is increasingly more difficult to bring in Video equipment to this International Auto Show.

As long as the keynote is available later VIA stream I will be fine.

I will be onsite for many keynote addresses at NAIAS, and attending many keynotes under This Schedule.

Unfortunately it's not set up like that - you'll probably end up using the ones in the US.

In october it took 2 hours for the stream to appear after the keynote finished, in June it was about 3 hours.

Doesn't matter, really, the live MW keynote streams always sucked for me. Even on broadband, they would break up and stutter constantly, then inevitably just hang and drop the connection. I'm sure they'll put it up later in the day where you should be able to watch it with a better connection.

I reckon this sucks. I used to really enjoy getting up really early in the morning and watching the stream. Added to the excitement to watch things being introduced live - text doesn't have the same impact for me. Watching the stream after it's all said and done is also pretty boring considering one already knows what's been released.

I wonder why apple decided to stop streaming?
- too expensive with more people interested in Apple these days....
- don't want any live stuff-ups....
- steve not happy with the world seeing his middle-aged paunch....

I agree and suspect/hope this will have very little to do with the iPod (except maybe the iPod Shuffle)

I hope this years Keynote will be all about the Intel Macs?

I'd pay $1.99 to download it off iTunes

Count me in, even at 4.99$CAD

Apple should take advantage of iTMS and sell Apple videos from it. In higher resolution, H.264... Am I the only one who thinks 320x200 is a joke? Why not 256-colors videos while we're at it?
