fireworks or photoshop
i used to use photoshop, but then fireworks's ui convinced me otherwise, and have been with fireworks ever since. so many people seem to like ps more, and i wonder why.
i have tried fireworks up to v8 and photoshop up to CS does anyone want to try to explain why fireworks is worse than photoshop, because i kinda feel like i want to be unconvinced.

But the downside of fireworks is that it's image editing capabilities aren't as powerful nor fast as photoshop. So if you need to do bitmap-specific editing (cloning, painting, filters, etc), then photoshop is a much better tool. Slicing images in fireworks is a million times better. I'll be disappointed if adobe drops fireworks and I have a feeling they will. If I could only choose 1 app, it would most definitely be photoshop. It's nice to have both depending on the design of the website. |

eh I've never had good results with fire works. Yeah it's probably because I just "know" photoshop, but I ussually uninstall fireworks whenever I upgrade a MM suite

Considering that Fireworks matches up with Adobe ImageReady that's included with Photoshop, it might be better to compare those two.
If you need heavy duty image editing with only export for web, you use Photoshop. If you need light duty image editing with a strong ability to create web graphics, you use Fireworks or ImageReady. |
