I'm trying to create a custom camera (which doesn't use the stock camera), just like that of instagram. In what way would I begin? Simply, I would like a live camera and then customizable buttons like a capture button and such? How should I get started?

I would check out Camera Programming Topics for iOS. Then probably look for some tutorials that demonstrate the concepts it covers.
