So i originally posted this thread earlier, but with recent revelations i figured i needed a different title =/

However i redid everything and now i see the problem. Upon a fresh install of windows 8.1 and then the apple drivers from 2/11/2014 release; everything worked fine EXCEPT video out on the thunderbolt display. Display stayed on my rMBR but audio was going through to my thunderbolt display.
I then did the windows update for Nvidia. This fixed it instantly where i can now have video out on my thunderbolt display, HOWEVER; if i boot w/o my monitor my laptops screen goes insta-black (like to sleep it seems) upon booting.
Why is this, and what can i do to fix this? My macbook screen works fine WITH my TBD plugged in, but now it doesn't work w/o the TBD (with the Nvidia update for the TBD to work).
