Superdrive firmware updates? Burning DVD issues

I can't seem to find any firmware updates for the superdrive in my computer.

It takes me about an hour to burn a dvd which I think is twice as long as it should. My burner should burn DVD-r at 2x but to my knowledge its only burning at 1x.. any one have any advice about this?

I would vote for...

a new Pioneer 110 from Newegg... $39... Dual Layer and 16x burn, if memory serves me correct...

you could even sell your Apple SD on Ebay to recoup costs.
