Got a user with an older MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. She has an external keyboard and monitor. For some reason, some of the keys on her external keyboard stopped working. The keys are 90-op[l;'./ and right-shift That makes an obvious pattern on the keyboard, kind of like if you had a function key to use a number pad. Anyway, I replaced the keyboard, and the new one worked for some short period of time, but developed the same symptom. I can take that keyboard and plug it into another mac, and it's still broken.

It looks like the Mac can somehow "program" a keyboard. How can I reset it the keyboard, and how can I tell the Mac to not do whatever the heck it's doing?
