Hello! I just recently installed a new SSD into my MacBook Pro and I would like to use my old hard drive as extra storage. However, when I plug it in, nothing happens. It doesn't show up in my finder or on my desktop. Do I have to do something different since it's a "bootable" drive?

Thanks!

Nope... if it was working okay when you took it out it should just show up in Disk Utility. Are you sure your external enclosure you put the old drive in is good?

What enclosure, dock, or adapter are you using to connect it to the MacBook?

Does the external device supply it's own power?

If not, the drive may not be receiving enough "bus power" to spin "all the way up" and get mounted on the desktop...

Also, try switching cables.

Also, try switching PORTS.
