I've only just discovered that I need to instal a New OS on my mac and I'm very nervous about how to go about doing this as I use the windows side on my imac for work and I'm so used to how it runs with XP, and so settled in outlook express (not outlook). I'm not sure where to start with this.
I currently have XP with office 2007.
I have an imac 27 inch, iMac10,1
IntelCore 2 Duo
Processor speed 3.06GHz
Processors 1
Cores 2
L2 cache 3MB
Memeory 4GB
Bus Speed 1.07 GHz
Boot Rom version IM101.00CC.B00
SMC version/system 1.52f9

Not sure which version of bootcamp we have
Not sure whether to go for win7 or win 8, if win8, which one? pro or basic?
Not sure whether to go for 32 bit or 64 bit
Not sure where to start and what to expect
Not sure which IE to instal on upgrade
Not sure how to get OE back
Not sure which anti virus to instal - currently using free MSE

Do I decide which windows, then buy it, then run in bootcamp?

Guidance would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

According to this link when you click the iMac tag in the middle of page, your 2009 iMac can only install Windows 7 32 or 64 bit officially. So you need to get a Windows 7 DVD installer and use your internal DVD drive to install Windows using the Boot Camp Assistant. Read and follow the manual instructions here to install Windows under Boot Camp.
