internal dvd rw

i have a sony pc around that has a pioneer dvd rw dvr 103 and i want to know if i can use it as a superdrive in a 867 quicksilver g4 tower (not mdd)
anyone know?
i know they were using this drive in older models of the powermac

it hasnt had the firmware upgrade for pioneers new recordable dvd media
