Unless he has the original receipt and proof he is the buyer. Even with that, it would be hard to do.

Keep your 50$ and tell your friend to keep his (probably) stolen iphone.

Dont you think if it was possible to unlock it and bypass that activation lock your friend would have done it himself?
And then he would sell it for way more money than $50?
There's nothing you can do to bypass that security feature. You need the original owners Apple ID and password.
