Apple Seeds OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 Build 13D38 to Developers

Apple today seeded build 13D38 of OS X 10.9.3 to developers, just under a week after releasing the fifth OS X beta, build 13D33, and a little over a month after the first 10.9.3 beta.

The beta is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store as well as through the Mac Dev Center.

Apple continues to ask developers to focus on Graphics Drivers, Audio, Mail, Contacts and Calendar sync over USB in iTunes, and Safari. As was discovered with the first beta, 10.9.3 adds new support for 4K displays, offering "Retina" resolutions that improve readability along with support for 60Hz output from the Retina MacBook Pro.

For some reason the Appleseed Feedback Assistant popped open on my Mac Pro after installing this version..

Has that utility been in all the seeds ?

Popped up here as well. I believe they made a mistake here, this should only show up for customers who's in the AppleSeed program.

IIRC, this happened once before, Apple removed it in the next seed.

It's not in 12D33. I've never seen it before in copies that came from the Seed updater through the developer program, and my dev account won't work with it anyway.

It was on the update for my MBP too but it didn't open on relaunch.

Weird.

It's in the HD > System > Library > Core Services directory.

For those of us who own the old MacPro, can any of the existing 3rd party vid cards (7950, GTX680, etc..) Run a 4k @ 60hz with this update?

Apple isn't going to add new features for a two generations old model at this point. 4k isn't going to happen with the HD3000.

The size is important.

What is missing from OpenGL? it is fully supported up to 4.1. As for performance improvements - I think they're pretty much already squeezing as much performance out of the GPU as they can bearing in mind it is from 2 generations ago.

No. The HD3000 is too old now!

You asked the same question in the 13D33 thread. The HD 3000 does not support 4K and I very much doubt they will release updated drivers for it now.

Same **** different day... I wonder why Apple even bother to release new seeds every week if they can't even get the graphics right...

I don't believe you... Even my colleagues' Iris graphics is not as smooth as my original HD Graphics on Snow Leopard, that he is now begging me to install SL on his 2013 rMBP...

Apple just screwed up big time on the graphics department...

The original Intel HD Graphics were pretty bad, choppy animations even on 10.6. That chip was so bad Apple chose to release the 13" 2010 MBP with the old C2D CPU's so they could use the Nvidia 320m instead.

As far as Mavericks goes, I'm pretty sure the reason for choppy animations on the rMBPs is the "Retina" scaling. The Iris Pro can easily power the display when it is set to native (i.e no scaling). Having said that, 10.9.2 was a massive improvement and I can now run the machine at 1680x1050 scaled resolution with no lag.

Does 10.9.3 so far increase the gaming performance of the latest Iris Pro rMBP? For me I'd like to try to play Diablo 3 on my 13" rMBP but the performance isn't really the greatest. I was hoping for an increase with new drivers.

Are they any improvements since 10.9.2 except graphics support 4K ?

Installed on Parallels Desktop as guest, screen goes black

I just upgraded to this 13D38 on a Mac guest in Parallels Desktop and after reboot comes up with a black screen. Can't find a workaround. Will report to Parallels. I guess they need to update the Parallels Tools.

Thats mostly the HD Graphics chip's fault for being crappy not OSX per se.

1) There is no need to be abusive and rude.
2) What are you basing the OpenGL version based on? Have you run 'OpenGL Extensions Viewer' and choosing 'Core' what version does it say that it supports? I had a 2011 MacBook Pro and as far as I recall it definitely supported OpenGL 4.1.
